Custodian
About The Position
The Custodian performs special cleaning projects and daily cleaning duties in accordance with housekeeping department procedures and hospital objectives. The role operates cleaning equipment and uses the tools, chemicals, and supplies needed to maintain the facility. The candidate may sometimes supervise a crew of local nationals, and at other times perform all cleaning duties directly. The position also includes planning work schedules, inspecting the establishment, recommending maintenance or space changes, managing supply and equipment inventories, and investigating improved cleaning instruments and methods. A Top-Secret Security Clearance is required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must hold a Top-Secret Security Clearance.
- Moderate understanding of general job aspects and some understanding of detailed job aspects.
Nice To Haves
- 2 to 4 years of experience in the industry is preferred.
- Relevant professional experience commensurate with the assignment may be considered.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning duties and special cleaning projects according to housekeeping procedures and hospital objectives.
- Operate automatic floor machines, commercial vacuums, wet mops, large wringers, and other necessary equipment.
- Dry- and wet-mop floors; scrub and buff floors using rotor and other machines; and vacuum carpets to clean and control bacteria.
- Transport and dispose of trash.
- Perform special cleaning of induction units, walls, lighting fixtures, and interior and exterior windows.
- Move furniture and set up meeting rooms.
- Collect soiled linen.
- Assist with cleaning emergency spills observed or reported.
- Keep assigned equipment clean and request or report repairs when needed.
- Report repair needs involving equipment, furniture, buildings, and fixtures.
- At times, supervise a crew of local nationals performing cleaning duties; at other times, perform all cleaning duties.
- Plan work schedules to ensure adequate service.
- Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of the establishment.
- Submit recommendations to management regarding painting, repairs, furnishings, equipment relocation, and space reallocation.
- Periodically inventory supplies and equipment.
- Investigate new and improved cleaning instruments and methods.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
