About The Position
The Retail Custodian helps maintain a clean, safe, organized, and welcoming store for customers and team members. The role involves cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, break rooms, sales floors, processing areas, loading docks, and other store spaces; maintaining cleaning supplies and equipment; monitoring for hazards; and providing courteous service when interacting with customers, donors, and coworkers. Custodians work with the store team to support a positive shopping experience and the company's community and environmental mission. On-the-job training is provided for candidates without prior cleaning or janitorial experience.
Requirements
- Able to work independently and stay on top of daily responsibilities.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable being active and on one's feet throughout the day.
- Able to lift and carry cleaning supplies, trash, and other materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable using cleaning equipment and chemicals safely and following company procedures.
- Good time management and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Dependable, hardworking, and willing to help where needed.
- Enjoys working as part of a team and supporting a positive experience for customers and coworkers.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment and adapting to changing priorities.

- Previous cleaning or janitorial experience.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the store.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, sales floors, processing areas, loading docks, and other areas.
- Sweep, mop, dust, wipe surfaces, and perform routine cleaning tasks.
- Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces, fixtures, and equipment.
- Empty trash containers and properly dispose of waste.
- Restock restroom supplies, including paper towels, toilet paper, and soap.
- Safely use and maintain cleaning carts, equipment, and cleaning products.
- Keep cleaning supplies and equipment organized, properly stored, and ready to use.
- Identify spills, safety hazards, and maintenance concerns and report them to management.
- Follow company cleaning, sanitation, and safety procedures.
- Provide friendly and courteous service to customers, donors, and team members.
- Work with the store team to maintain a clean and organized shopping environment.
