About The Position

Custodians work in various settings and are responsible for the general upkeep of buildings. As key members of the custodial team, they collaborate with Custodial Team Leads to provide quality custodial services to clients. The posting notes that 75% of labor hours for contracts are reserved for individuals with documented significant disabilities and encourages those individuals to apply. Depending on the service contract, documentation of a disability may be required. Goodwill Central Texas is a nonprofit organization established in 1958. Its mission is funded through donation-driven retail stores, business and staffing solutions, and community support; its vision is to empower Central Texans to transform their lives through work and education. The role is scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Compensation depends on experience and qualifications. A post-offer background check is required to confirm eligibility for the assigned customer or location; alternative work locations may be offered as appropriate.

Requirements

One to three months of previous cleaning experience; an approved custodial training program may substitute for experience.
Ability to lift 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to pass a criminal background check, subject to the assigned site client’s requirements.
A valid driver's license.
Depending on the service contract, documentation of a disability may be required.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED.
One year of previous custodial experience at a federal contract or commercial cleaning site.
Ability to operate a variety of buffing machines.

Responsibilities

Clean restrooms, toilets, sinks, floors, urinals, mirrors, and fixtures using cleaning tools and disinfectants or cleaning solutions.
Spot-clean doors, partitions, walls, windows, and horizontal surfaces.
Restock paper supplies and take trash to the designated location.
Vacuum carpet daily and shampoo it as specified in the contract; sweep and mop other surfaces daily, and strip, wax, and buff them as specified in the contract.
Follow safety rules, standards, and regulations.
Mix chemical solutions safely and efficiently.
Maintain a positive attitude and take pride in representing the organization positively.
Apply the highest ethical standards when making decisions related to people and business.
Participate in required meetings and adhere to the assigned work schedule.
Comply with the Corporate Compliance Program and meet annual mandatory training requirements.
Support service recipients, supervisors, and Custodial Team Leads at assigned contract sites.
