About The Position

The Custodian cleans and maintains assigned areas across college facilities, including classrooms, labs, offices, restrooms, theatres, lecture and conference rooms, a gymnasium, and amphitheaters. Duties include removing trash; cleaning boards, glass, chrome, and exits; mopping and vacuuming floors; and performing floor maintenance such as shampooing, stripping, waxing, and buffing. The role also includes turning off lights and securing doors. The work schedule is 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The position may require travel between college locations and may be subject to a criminal background screening.

Requirements

• At least six months of recent, verifiable custodial building-cleaning and floor-maintenance experience.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License to drive college vehicles when necessary.
• Own transportation to report to other college locations as assigned.
• Obtain forklift certification within one year of employment.
• Ability to follow oral and/or written communications.
• Computer knowledge to clock in and out and view personnel-related information.
• Ability to walk, stand, stoop, stretch, push, pull, reach, and lift throughout the workday, exerting at least 20 pounds of force on a recurring basis.
• Ability to work with exposure to indoor and outdoor temperatures.

Responsibilities

• Pick up and remove trash from assigned areas, including classrooms, labs, offices, restrooms, theatres, and other directed areas.
• Clean chalkboards, blackboards, whiteboards, and erasers daily.
• Turn off lights and secure doors.
• Clean glass, chrome, and exits in designated college facilities.
• Damp-mop and wet-mop vinyl and tile floors.
• Vacuum floors and carpets.
• Perform assigned floor maintenance, including vacuuming, shampooing, stripping, waxing, and buffing.
