About The Position

Reporting to the Director of Facilities, a Custodian’s responsibility is to provide a safe, attractive, clean and comfortable environment for students, staff and the general public.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Must successfully complete state-required clearances and training in regard to the prevention and reporting of child abuse.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routing reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before small groups or employees of the Academy.
• Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with ten’s and hundred’s.
• Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.
• Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.
• Ability to drive between Academy buildings.
• Ability to perform duties with awareness of all Academy requirements.

Responsibilities

• Sweep classrooms, dust furniture and shelving, and dispose of refuse daily in assigned work areas
• Clean corridors after school each day and during the day when conditions require it.
• Scrub and disinfect toilet room floors and clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains in assigned work areas daily.
• Maintain all floors in a clean and attractive condition as well as in a good state of preservation.
