Custodian
About The Position
The Custodian cleans and maintains buildings and grounds to ensure they are neat and clean on a daily basis. The position is part time with benefits, scheduled Monday through Friday, typically 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for 29 hours per week. Occasional Saturdays may be required based on scheduled events. The position requires a Level 2 background screening. Work is performed in a normal office environment, with some exposure to outdoor temperatures, dirt and dust, and disagreeable sights or odors. The employee must be able to perform general building and grounds maintenance and cleaning, follow instructions, work independently, meet attendance requirements, and communicate in English. Physical duties include lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds and continuous walking, stooping, standing, and climbing.
Requirements
- Six months of experience performing general custodian or janitorial duties, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Ability to perform general maintenance and cleaning activities for buildings and grounds.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read and communicate in English.
- Ability to exert the physical energy required to perform housekeeping and minor maintenance work.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and climbing.
- Level 2 background screening required.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including sinks and toilets; polish mirrors and replenish supplies.
- Sweep, vacuum, mop, and wax floors, and sweep sidewalks.
- Clean windows and dust and polish furniture and fixtures.
- Clean the kitchen and dining area; wash dishes; clean and defrost the refrigerator; and clean stoves and ovens.
- Stock and sort pantry items.
- Wash, fold, and store laundry and linens.
- Regularly empty trash cans and collect trash from the grounds.
- Assist with setting up meeting rooms, including setting up tables and chairs, putting ice in glasses, and setting out drinks.
- Monitor light fixtures and replace light bulbs as necessary.
