About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all assigned areas. The role performs janitorial work, follows daily schedules, maintains assigned areas, and operates motorized cleaning equipment. It also includes handling hazardous waste, using appropriate personal protective equipment, following safety procedures, and reporting incidents or hazardous conditions. The Custodian works with other employees, takes direction from supervisors, communicates professionally with coworkers, managers, and customers, and may fill in during staff shortages or support shift leads with punch-list items. Driving to various work locations, customer sites, or company facilities may be necessary. The position has no supervisory responsibilities. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Compensation is $18.50–$19.50 per hour. Requirements

No specific education requirement.
Three to six months of training or experience is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Complete all safety and task training certifications.
A valid driver's license may be required based on business needs; employees who drive for work must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, including safe and efficient use of cleaning compounds and chemicals.
Ability to perform the essential duties satisfactorily and safely.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual ability is a plus.
Forklift certification may be required.
Prior training or experience of three to six months is preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties and complete duties listed on the daily schedule.
Collect, classify, sort, store, ship and receive, label, clean, recycle, and package special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain its upkeep and care.
Maintain the daily upkeep and cleanliness of assigned areas and work areas.
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Comply with safety rules, policies, procedures, protocols, and company rules.
Stop at-risk behavior by oneself or others.
Perform repetitive tasks and work as part of a team.
Take direction and respond to supervision.
Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and customers.
Fill in during staff shortages and support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
Use proper personal protective equipment and maintain a professional appearance and conduct.
Understand customer service and satisfaction, reporting systems, and the work environment.
Drive to various work locations, customer sites, or company facilities if necessary to perform essential functions.
