About The Position

Miller Industries is seeking a Custodian for its new location in Hazel Park, Michigan. The position is on 1st shift, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with some overtime on Fridays and/or weekends as needed. The custodian performs daily and weekly cleaning and upkeep of offices, common areas, bathrooms, canteen areas, and factory spaces; checks and replenishes supplies; and reports facility or safety-related issues. The role is performed in a manufacturing setting and requires use of personal protective equipment. The company describes itself as a family-operated manufacturer of custom steel fabrication, HVAC, and modular mechanical and electrical systems, serving industries including automotive, healthcare, institutional, and semiconductor manufacturing.

Requirements

At least 2 years of related experience.
Comfort using electrical and mechanical items, including a vacuum and Tennent floor sweeper.
Ability to perform the physical demands of the job, including frequent walking, extended standing, balancing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting, reaching overhead, and climbing ladders as needed.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in a manufacturing setting with exposure to noise, fumes, dirt, heat, sparks, smoke, dust, vibration, grease, moving objects or parts, hazardous chemicals, and hot and cold conditions; personal protective equipment is required.

Responsibilities

Empty trash from offices, the canteen, and factory-area bins.
Dust desktops where possible and vacuum common areas and office spaces.
Clean bathroom stalls and urinals; replenish bathroom tissue, hand-drying towels, and soap; sweep and mop bathroom floors and wipe sinks, fixtures, and mirrors.
Disinfect handles in offices, entrances, and common areas; wipe down canteen surfaces and clean up after luncheon events.
Collect rubbish, including packaging, and take it to the outside dumpster.
Clean office and common-area glass up to six feet high.
Use the Tennent floor sweeper in the factory to reduce dust.
Check upstairs office spaces for signs of animals or water leaks and complete the log sheet.
Antibacterial-wipe eye-wash stations and wipe down fire extinguishers; report any missing or discharged extinguishers.
Inspect first-aid boxes, check inventory, and replace items as required.
Remove perishables from common-area refrigerators.
Clean bathroom cubicle walls and doors.
Perform other assigned duties and tasks.
