About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all assigned areas. The role performs janitorial duties, follows daily schedules, maintains assigned areas and cleaning equipment, and handles special and hazardous waste responsibilities. The position follows safety protocols, uses appropriate personal protective equipment, reports incidents and hazardous conditions, and works cooperatively with employees, supervisors, and customers. The scheduled shift is Thursday through Sunday, 7:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., with compensation of $18.20–$19.20 per hour.

Requirements

• No specific education requirement.
• Must be able to perform the essential duties safely and satisfactorily.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, including equipment upkeep and care.
• Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
• Must complete all safety and task training certification.
• A valid driver's license may be required based on business needs; employees who drive must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Three to six months of training or experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bilingual ability.
• Forklift certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform janitorial duties and all duties listed on the daily schedule.
• Collect, classify, sort, store, ship and receive, label, clean, recycle, and package special and hazardous waste.
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain its upkeep and care.
• Maintain the daily upkeep and cleanliness of the assigned area.
• Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
• Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures, and stop at-risk behavior by oneself or others.
• Perform work assignments as part of a team and complete repetitive tasks.
• Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules.
• Take direction and respond to supervision.
• Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, co-workers, managers, and customers.
• Fill in during staff shortages and support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
• Use proper personal protective equipment and maintain a professional appearance and conduct.
• Understand customer service and satisfaction, reporting systems, and the work environment.
