About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for minor maintenance repairs and maintaining a clean, orderly appearance at the collection center. The role includes cleaning employee and donor areas, restrooms, windows, doors, and grounds; performing minor maintenance; handling supplies and shipping materials; and maintaining a safe, efficient work environment. The position requires bilingual English and Spanish skills. The job may involve cross-training in other areas and performing other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bilingual English and Spanish skills are required.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions.
Ability to understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines.
Must be able to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.
Ability to reach, bend, kneel, and perform tasks requiring a high level of manual dexterity.
Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
Frequently exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood-borne pathogens.
Must wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas.
Required to work overtime and extended hours to support center operational needs.

Nice To Haves

Minimum three months of experience as a custodian, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

Clean tables, chairs, cabinets, counters, and appliances in the employee break room and donor waiting area.
Vacuum carpets, dust furniture, and remove trash.
Clean windows and doors at least daily.
Perform minor maintenance, including changing light bulbs, replacing ceiling tiles, painting, and minor plumbing and carpentry tasks.
Monitor the grounds and parking lots around the center and pick up litter as needed.
Assist with recycling and repackaging shipping materials.
Inspect and clean restrooms throughout the day, replenish paper and soap supplies, and perform other minor custodial tasks as needed.
Receive vendor supplies and move them from storage to released and quarantined areas.
Maintain a clean, efficient work environment and ensure operating supplies and forms are available as needed.
Follow HSE and OSHA policies and procedures and promote safety in all actions.
Maintain the confidentiality of personnel, donor, and center information.
May cross-train in other areas to meet business needs.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
