About The Position

The Custodian helps create a clean and welcoming environment in the Student Union Building (SUB). Working as part of a fast-paced, student-centered team, the position helps ensure event spaces, common spaces, meeting rooms, and dining areas are safe, organized, and ready for daily activities and events. The role supports the student experience by maintaining cleanliness standards, responding promptly to needs, and supporting facility operations. It also assists with setup and teardown of large events as needed to support Operations staff. The SUB is described as a dynamic, high-energy campus workplace with teamwork, hands-on professional development, and opportunities to contribute to campus activities. Candidates should be dependable, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment. This is a regular, full-time, benefits-eligible, non-exempt staff position on the Main campus in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The stated hourly pay range is $15.00–$23.60. The preferred schedule is Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m. The position requires a pre-employment criminal background check and a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check. Regular, non-temporary employees in this classification are represented by a labor union and are subject to the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Requirements

Less than a high school education; no previous experience is required.
Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
Must submit to a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
Must be available to work Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m., according to the Additional Requirements section.

Responsibilities

Sweep and mop floors.
Vacuum carpets.
Empty trash receptacles and dispose of trash bags properly.
Clean windows.
Dust as needed.
Assist the Operations team as needed, including setup and teardown of large events.
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
