About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all assigned areas. The role performs janitorial and scheduled duties, maintains the daily upkeep of assigned spaces, and may handle hazardous-waste tasks such as collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging special and hazardous waste. The Custodian operates motorized cleaning equipment, follows safety procedures, uses appropriate personal protective equipment, and reports incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor. The position works as part of a team, takes direction from supervisors, communicates professionally with coworkers, managers, leads, and customers, and supports the shift lead with punch-list items. The Custodian may fill in during staff shortages and may need to drive to various work locations, customer sites, or company facilities. This position has no supervisory responsibilities. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Compensation is $15.00–$16.00 per hour. Requirements

No specific education requirement.
Three to six months of training or experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Complete all safety and task training certification.
A valid driver's license may be required based on business needs; employees who drive for work must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, including equipment upkeep and care.
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties and all duties listed on the daily schedule.
Perform hazardous-waste responsibilities, including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain the assigned area.
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures; intervene in at-risk behavior; and use proper personal protective equipment.
Work with other employees as a team and perform repetitive tasks.
Maintain a clean work area and follow protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules.
Take direction and respond to supervision; communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and customers.
Fill in during staff shortages and support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
Maintain a professional appearance and conduct, understand customer service and satisfaction, and understand reporting systems and the environment.
Drive to various work locations, customer sites, or company facilities when necessary to perform essential job functions.
