About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all assigned areas. The role performs janitorial and scheduled duties, maintains assigned areas and cleaning equipment, and completes hazardous-waste handling tasks. The position works with other employees, follows safety and company procedures, responds to supervision, and communicates professionally with colleagues, supervisors, managers, and customers. The role has no supervisory responsibilities. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with compensation of $18.50–$19.50 per hour. Requirements

No specific education requirement.
Preferred: 3–6 months of training or experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Complete all required safety and task-training certifications.
A valid driver's license may be required based on business needs; employees who drive for their duties must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements.
May be required to be forklift certified.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, and willingness to share that knowledge with the team.
Knowledge of cleaning-equipment upkeep and care.
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
Able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual ability is a plus.
Forklift certification may be required, depending on the position's needs.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties and all duties listed on the daily schedule.
Collect, classify, sort, store, ship and receive, label, clean, recycle, and package special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain the daily upkeep of assigned areas.
Maintain and care for cleaning equipment and keep the work area clean.
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor, follow safety procedures, and stop at-risk behavior by oneself or others.
Perform repetitive tasks and work assignments as part of a team.
Follow protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules; take direction and respond to supervision.
Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and customers.
Fill in during staff shortages and support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment and maintain a professional appearance and conduct.
Understand customer service and satisfaction, reporting systems, and the work environment.
