About The Position

The Custodian cleans and maintains assigned areas, including restrooms, floors, furniture, fixtures, windows, and other surfaces. The role also secures assigned areas, supports room and event setups, and follows safety precautions when using chemicals and maintaining floors. The Custodian is expected to support a welcoming, respectful environment where students, faculty, and college employees feel valued and empowered.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED.
• One year of successful experience in the custodial area.

Responsibilities

• Clean all aspects of assigned areas.
• Clean and disinfect sinks, toilets, and trash receptacles, and mop restroom floors.
• Clean and refill toilet paper and paper towel dispensers.
• Clean mirrors, handrails, floors, glass doors, windows, window ledges, file cabinets, blinds, shelves, tables, chairs, dry erase boards, ceilings, diffusers, and air ducts.
• Vacuum, empty trash cans, and replace liners.
• Ensure all doors are locked and lights are turned off before leaving the assigned area.
• Transport tables and chairs for classroom or area setups and return them to storage after events.
• Install floor coverings in the gym.
• Pull out bleachers and set up stages, podiums, and sporting equipment.
• Understand and follow safety precautions for using chemicals.
• Display wet-floor signs when appropriate and remove them when floors are dry.
• Support and promote a culture of belonging in which students, faculty, and college employees feel welcomed, valued, and empowered.
• Help foster a safe and respectful community where varied perspectives enrich the educational experience.
• Support the College’s policies and programming related to access, fair employment, and equal opportunities for all.
