About The Position
Central Louisiana State Hospital (CLSH) is seeking a Custodian 1-3 for its Housekeeping Department in Pineville, Louisiana. The position performs basic manual tasks to maintain cleanliness, sanitary conditions, and the appearance of state buildings and facilities. It supports the Louisiana Department of Health’s behavioral health community by applying CLSH’s mission and values to help deliver quality and effective patient care in a safe and secure environment. The position may be filled at the Custodian 1, 2, or 3 level. No experience or training is required. Work hours are 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The role may include emergency and on-call duties, as well as other duties assigned to support the Custodial Services Department.

Responsibilities
- Maintain sanitary conditions by dusting walls, furniture, appliances, and other surfaces; sweeping and dusting; cleaning blinds and windows; and wet-mopping, stripping, waxing, and buffing floors in patient care areas and ancillary buildings.
- Maintain the cleanliness of building exteriors, adjacent grounds, and other areas under the department’s operational control, including sweeping sidewalks and porches and cleaning building exteriors.
- Ensure biohazardous waste is properly disposed of and report safety hazards to a supervisor.
- Check and maintain adequate supplies of cleaning products, paper products, and personal items for patients and staff.
- Ensure housekeeping carts have current safety data sheets.
- Inform staff about problems that could adversely affect cleanliness or safety.
- Train in non-violent crisis intervention to avoid, avert, and appropriately respond to patients in crisis situations.
- Attend in-services and training on procedures, products, chemicals, and proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Respond to emergencies and on-call duties and perform other assigned duties to support the Custodial Services Department.
