About The Position

LSU Shreveport is seeking a Custodian 1 or Custodian 2 in the Facility Services department. The position performs routine and specialized cleaning duties to maintain campus buildings and facilities and supports a clean, safe, and welcoming campus environment. The appointment is probational/promotional. As part of a Career Progression Group, the vacancy may be filled at either the Custodian 1 or Custodian 2 level depending on the selected applicant’s education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform varied custodial tasks necessary for building upkeep and maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions in assigned work areas or buildings.
• Clean bathrooms, offices, hallways, and other assigned areas by sweeping, mopping, dusting, straightening, and performing general housekeeping tasks.
• Empty trash receptacles.
• Mix or blend cleaning solutions to appropriate concentrations as needed.
• Sweep sidewalks, porches, and other horizontal exterior surfaces daily or as needed.
• Strip and polish floors using buffing machines.
• Clean and wax floors using industrial-sized mops and/or machines.
• Operate wet and dry vacuums to clean and shampoo carpeted areas.
