About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all assigned areas. The role performs janitorial work, maintains assigned areas, and carries out hazardous-waste responsibilities, including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging special and hazardous waste. The Custodian operates motorized cleaning equipment and follows assigned schedules, safety procedures, and company policies. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

No specific education requirement.
Three to six months of training or experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Complete all required safety and task-training certifications.
A valid driver's license may be required based on business needs; employees who drive as part of their duties must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, and willingness to share that knowledge with the team.
Knowledge of the upkeep and care of cleaning equipment.
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
Frequently required to sit and talk or listen.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual ability is a plus.
May be required to hold forklift certification.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties and all tasks listed on the daily schedule.
Carry out hazardous-waste responsibilities, including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain its upkeep and care.
Maintain the daily cleanliness of the assigned area and keep the work area clean.
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures; stop at-risk behavior by oneself or others; and use proper personal protective equipment.
Work with other employees as a team and perform repetitive tasks.
Follow protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules; take direction and respond to supervision.
Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and customers.
Fill in during staff shortages and support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
Maintain a professional appearance and conduct, and understand customer service, customer satisfaction, reporting systems, and the work environment.
