About The Position
As a Custodian 1 for Auxiliary Facilities Services, you will perform custodial tasks under general supervision to maintain the cleanliness and care of facilities within residence halls, apartments, and dining areas. Duties include commercial cleaning, painting and spackling while wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and operating industrial cleaning equipment such as high-speed buffers, burnishers, shampooers, and vacuum cleaners. The role also involves cleaning restrooms, classrooms, residence halls, offices, and similar facilities, as well as moving heavy items such as tables, furniture, cleaning equipment, and supplies. The position requires bending, stooping, and lifting or moving items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds; standing and walking continuously throughout the shift; and climbing and standing on ladders. Assigned shifts may include 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, an alternative work week, early mornings, swing, late evening, and weekends. Schedules are determined by departmental staffing requirements and may vary with availability.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Be able to bend, stoop, and lift or move items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
- Be able to stand and walk continuously throughout the shift.
- Be able to climb and stand on ladders.
- Be willing and able to perform commercial cleaning duties, including painting and spackling, while wearing PPE and operating industrial cleaning equipment.
