About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for keeping assigned areas clean and sanitary. The role performs janitorial duties and scheduled tasks, maintains assigned areas and cleaning equipment, and follows safety protocols and company procedures. It also includes handling special and hazardous waste and operating motorized cleaning equipment. The Custodian works with colleagues and supervisors, provides support during staffing shortages, and helps complete shift punch-list items. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with compensation listed as $12.50–$13.00 per hour in one section and $12–$13 per hour in another. The role has no supervisory responsibilities. A valid driver's license may be required based on business needs; employees who drive for work must meet the company's driving eligibility requirements. Reliable personal transportation and the ability to pass an MVR are also required.

Requirements

No specific education requirement.
Must be able to perform the essential duties safely and satisfactorily.
Must complete all required safety and task training certifications.
Must be able to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, including equipment upkeep and care.
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
Must be able to pass an MVR and have reliable personal transportation.
A valid driver's license may be required based on business needs; employees who drive as part of their job must maintain an acceptable MVR and meet company driving eligibility requirements.

Nice To Haves

Three to six months of training or experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.
Bilingual skills are a plus.
Forklift certification may be required.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties and all duties listed on the daily schedule.
Collect, classify, sort, store, ship and receive, label, clean, recycle, and package special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain the daily upkeep of assigned areas.
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Follow safety rules, company protocols, procedures, policies, and rules; stop at-risk behavior by oneself or others.
Perform repetitive tasks and maintain a clean work area.
Work as part of a team and communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and customers.
Fill in during staff shortages and support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment and maintain a professional appearance and conduct.
Understand customer service and satisfaction, reporting systems, and the work environment.
