About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all assigned areas. The role performs scheduled janitorial work, maintains cleaning equipment and work areas, and handles special and hazardous waste in accordance with applicable protocols and safety procedures. The position works as part of a team, follows direction and company policies, reports incidents and hazardous conditions, and supports the shift lead as needed. Driving to work locations, customer sites, or company facilities may be necessary.

Requirements

No specific education requirement.
Ability to perform the essential duties safely and satisfactorily.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, and willingness to share that knowledge with the team.
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
Completion of all safety and task training certification.
A valid driver's license may be required based on business needs; employees who drive for work must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements.

Nice To Haves

Three to six months of training or experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bilingual ability.
Forklift certification may be required.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties and all duties listed on the daily schedule.
Collect, classify, sort, store, ship and receive, label, clean, recycle, and package special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain its upkeep and care.
Maintain the daily upkeep of assigned areas and keep the work area clean.
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Comply with safety rules, policies, procedures, protocols, and company rules.
Stop at-risk behavior by oneself and others.
Perform work assignments with other employees and carry out repetitive tasks.
Take direction and respond to supervision.
Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and customers.
Fill in during staff shortages and support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
Use proper personal protective equipment and maintain a professional appearance and conduct.
Understand customer service and satisfaction, reporting systems, and the work environment.
