About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all assigned areas. The role performs scheduled janitorial work, maintains assigned areas and cleaning equipment, and handles special and hazardous waste according to applicable procedures. The Custodian follows safety requirements, uses proper personal protective equipment, works with a team, responds to supervision, and communicates professionally with coworkers, managers, leads, supervisors, and customers. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Compensation is $19–$20 per hour. SBM offers comprehensive benefit packages; details are available on the company’s careers website.

Requirements

No specific education requirement.
Three to six months of training or experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Complete all required safety and task training certifications.
A valid driver's license may be required based on business needs; employees who drive for work must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements.
May be required to be forklift certified.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, including equipment upkeep and care.
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual ability is a plus.
Three to six months of training or experience is preferred.
Forklift certification may be required.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties and all duties listed on the daily schedule.
Collect, classify, sort, store, ship and receive, label, clean, recycle, and package special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain the daily upkeep of the assigned area.
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures, and stop at-risk behavior by oneself or others.
Perform work assignments as part of a team and complete repetitive tasks.
Maintain a clean work area and follow protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules.
Take direction and respond to supervision.
Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and customers.
Fill in during staff shortages and support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
Use proper personal protective equipment and maintain a professional appearance and conduct.
Understand customer service and satisfaction, reporting systems, and the work environment.
