About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all assigned areas. The role includes performing scheduled janitorial duties and maintaining the daily upkeep of the assigned area. The Custodian also performs hazardous-waste responsibilities, operates motorized cleaning equipment, follows safety procedures, and works with team members and supervisors to complete assigned work. Other duties may be assigned, and responsibilities may change with or without notice.

Requirements

No specific education requirement.
Three to six months of training or experience is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Complete all safety and task training certifications.
A valid driver's license may be required depending on business needs; employees who drive must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, cleaning-equipment upkeep and care, and cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual ability.
Forklift certification may be required.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties and all duties listed on the daily schedule.
Collect, classify, sort, store, ship and receive, label, clean, recycle, and package special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain its upkeep and care.
Maintain the daily upkeep of the assigned area and keep the work area clean.
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures; stop at-risk behavior by self and others; and use proper personal protective equipment.
Perform work assignments as part of a team and complete repetitive tasks.
Follow protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules; take direction and respond to supervision.
Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and customers.
Fill in during staff shortages and support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
Maintain a professional appearance and conduct, and understand customer service, satisfaction, reporting systems, and the work environment.
