About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for minor maintenance repairs and maintaining the clean, orderly appearance of the collection center. The role includes cleaning employee and donor areas, restrooms, windows, doors, grounds, and parking lots; handling supplies and shipping materials; and maintaining an efficient work environment. The custodian follows Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) and OSHA policies, promotes safety, and protects confidential personnel, donor, and center information. The position may include cross-training in other areas and performing other job-related duties as assigned. Bilingual English and Spanish skills are required for this posting.

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions.
Ability to understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines.
Must be able to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.
Occasionally perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of the time.
Ability to reach, bend, kneel, and demonstrate a high level of manual dexterity.
Occasionally lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
Frequently exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood-borne pathogens.
Wear personal protective equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas.
Work overtime and extended hours to support center operational needs.

Nice To Haves

At least three months of custodian experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is preferred.

Responsibilities

Clean tables, chairs, cabinets, counters, and appliances in the employee break room and donor waiting area.
Vacuum carpets, dust furniture, and remove trash.
Clean windows and doors at least daily.
Perform minor maintenance, including changing light bulbs, replacing ceiling tiles, painting, and minor plumbing and carpentry tasks.
Monitor the grounds and parking lots around the center and pick up litter as needed.
Assist with recycling and repackaging shipping materials.
Inspect and clean restrooms throughout the day and replenish paper and soap supplies; perform other minor custodial tasks as needed.
Physically receive vendor supplies and move supplies from storage to released and quarantined areas.
Maintain a clean, efficient work environment and ensure operating supplies and forms are available as needed.
Follow HSE and OSHA policies and procedures and promote safety in all actions.
Maintain confidentiality of personnel, donor, and center information.
May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
