About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of assigned areas. The role performs janitorial work, follows daily schedules and safety procedures, maintains cleaning equipment and work areas, and supports the shift lead and team. It also includes handling special and hazardous waste, reporting incidents and unsafe conditions, and providing professional service to coworkers, managers, and customers. This position has no supervisory responsibilities. No specific education is required. Three to six months of training or experience is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid driver's license may be required based on business needs; employees who drive must meet company driving eligibility requirements and maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record. Completion of safety and task training certification is required, and forklift certification may be required. The role is scheduled Wednesday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at $15.00–$16.00 per hour. Requirements

No specific education requirement.
Three to six months of training or experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, and willingness to share that knowledge with the team.
Knowledge of cleaning equipment upkeep and care.
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
Completion of all safety and task training certification.
A valid driver's license may be required based on business needs; employees who drive must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties and all duties listed on the daily schedule.
Collect, classify, sort, store, ship and receive, label, clean, recycle, and package special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain the assigned area and cleaning equipment.
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Comply with safety rules, policies, procedures, protocols, and company requirements; stop at-risk behavior by oneself or others.
Work with other employees as a team and perform repetitive tasks.
Maintain a clean work area and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
Take direction and respond to supervision; communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and customers.
Fill in during staff shortages and support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
Maintain a professional appearance and conduct, and support customer service and satisfaction.
Understand reporting systems and the work environment.
