About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of assigned areas. The role performs scheduled janitorial duties, maintains cleaning equipment and work areas, and follows company safety protocols and procedures. The position works with other employees and communicates professionally with leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and customers. Driving to various work locations, customer sites, or company facilities may be necessary. The position has no supervisory responsibilities. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Compensation is $15.15–$16 per hour. SBM offers comprehensive benefit packages; details are available on the company’s careers website.

Requirements

No specific education requirement.
Three to six months of training or experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Complete all required safety and task-training certifications.
A valid driver’s license may be required based on business needs; employees who drive for work must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements.
May be required to be forklift certified.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, equipment upkeep and care, and the safe and efficient use of cleaning compounds and chemicals.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual ability.
Three to six months of training or experience.
Forklift certification, if required for the position.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties and all tasks listed on the daily schedule.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain the daily upkeep of assigned areas.
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Follow safety rules, policies, procedures, company protocols, and other applicable rules; use proper personal protective equipment.
Work with other employees, perform repetitive tasks, and maintain a clean work area.
Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and customers.
Fill in during staff shortages and support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
Maintain a professional appearance and conduct, and support customer service and satisfaction.
Understand reporting systems and the work environment.
