About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all areas assigned. This role involves performing janitorial duties, operating motorized cleaning equipment, and maintaining the daily upkeep of assigned areas. The position also includes responsibilities related to hazardous waste management, such as collecting, classifying, storing, shipping, receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging special and hazardous waste. The Custodian must comply with all safety rules, policies, and procedures, report incidents and hazardous conditions to their supervisor, and work collaboratively with team members. They are expected to perform repetitive tasks, maintain a clean work area, follow all protocols, and take direction from supervision. Professional conduct, customer service understanding, and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors are essential. The role may require driving to various work locations and understanding reporting systems and the work environment.

Requirements

Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment and willing to share with team
Knowledge of the upkeep and care of the cleaning equipment
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use
Completed all safety and task training certification.

Nice To Haves

3-6 months training or experience preferred
Equivalent combination of education and experience
A valid driver's license may be required for this position based on business needs.
Employees required to drive as part of their job duties must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and meet company driving eligibility requirements.
May be required to be forklift certified.
Bilingual a plus

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties
Perform all duties listed on the daily schedule
Perform Hazardous Waste responsibilities including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, packaging of special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment
Maintain daily upkeep of assigned area
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
Stop at risk behavior of others and self
Perform work assignments in a team with other employees
Perform repetitive tasks
Maintain clean work area
Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules
Take direction and respond to supervision
Talk with lead, supervisor, co-workers, managers, and customers in a professional manner
Fill in during staff shortage
Support shift lead in completing punch-list items
Use proper personal protective equipment
Present a professional appearance and conduct
Understand customer service and satisfaction
The ability to drive to various work locations, customer sites, or company facilities may be necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.
