About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all assigned areas. The position performs scheduled janitorial work, maintains cleaning equipment and assigned areas, and carries out responsibilities involving hazardous and special waste. The Custodian follows safety procedures, uses appropriate personal protective equipment, reports incidents and hazardous conditions, and works with coworkers and supervisors to complete assignments and support customer satisfaction. Other duties may be assigned or changed as needed.

Requirements

No specific education requirement.
Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and safely.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, and willingness to share that knowledge with the team.
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
Completion of all safety and task training certifications.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
A valid driver's license may be required based on business needs; employees who drive must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements.
Forklift certification may be required.

Nice To Haves

Three to six months of training or experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bilingual ability.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties and complete all duties listed on the daily schedule.
Collect, classify, sort, store, ship and receive, label, clean, recycle, and package special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain its upkeep and care.
Maintain the daily cleanliness and sanitation of assigned areas and keep the work area clean.
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures, and stop at-risk behavior by oneself or others.
Perform work assignments as part of a team and complete repetitive tasks.
Follow protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules; take direction and respond to supervision.
Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and customers.
Fill in during staff shortages and support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
Use proper personal protective equipment and maintain professional appearance and conduct.
Understand customer service and satisfaction, reporting systems, and the work environment.
