About The Position

The Custodian cleans public and staff spaces at the museum, Glassell School, house museums, related buildings, and other museum properties. The role follows standardized cleaning practices and procedures and includes cleaning work areas, administrative offices, restrooms, windows, and interior glass. The position requires physical work, the ability to follow instructions, and the ability to work independently or with a group. Overtime may be required, including weekends and holidays, with as much advance notice as reasonably possible.

Requirements

• Ability to lift at least 25 lbs and perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, climbing stairs, and walking between buildings.
• Ability to follow instructions and perform tasks efficiently.
• Ability to work in a group setting and independently with minimal supervision.
• Availability to work overtime, including weekends and holidays, with as much advance notice as reasonably possible.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

• Previous commercial janitorial cleaning experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Clean public and staff spaces at the museum, Glassell School, house museums, related buildings, and museum properties using standardized practices and procedures.
• Clean museum work areas and administrative offices.
• Clean employee and public restrooms, including disinfecting and cleaning toilets and sinks, mopping floors, polishing stainless steel surfaces, and replacing towels and soap.
• Clean windows and interior glass.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish; empty trash and replace liners.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
