About The Position

ChildServe is hiring a full-time Custodian at its Johnston location. The role performs routine and comprehensive custodial maintenance to provide a clean, orderly, and safe environment for children, families, and staff. The schedule is negotiable.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
One year of custodial experience preferred; custodial and building maintenance experience in a school setting preferred.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain mobile within clinic areas; frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
Ability to work with frequent contact with water and strong cleaning agents and disinfectants.
Ability to communicate effectively in English through reading, writing, and speaking.

Nice To Haves

One year of custodial experience.
Custodial and building maintenance experience in a school setting.

Responsibilities

Schedule, coordinate, direct, and perform routine and comprehensive custodial maintenance of assigned facilities.
Respond to service requests and coordinate resources.
Report and respond to emergency calls for custodial assistance.
Operate power equipment, hand and power tools, and agency vehicles as needed while following safety requirements.
Clean and disinfect assigned areas, including vacuuming, carpet cleaning, window washing, and trash removal, according to established procedures.
Order and stock facility paper and supplies, maintain inventory, and submit written supply requests.
Coordinate and assist with setting up and taking down furniture and equipment as needed.
Perform maintenance and custodial duties, including installing and repairing fixtures.
Troubleshoot and repair minor plumbing and electrical problems; replace light bulbs and lighting accessories.
Complete minor groundskeeping duties and other related tasks as requested.
