About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of assigned areas. This on-call position is scheduled Monday through Friday, with availability to work all shifts, which may occur or conclude early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Compensation is $18 to $23 per hour. The role involves janitorial work, daily upkeep, hazardous-waste responsibilities, and operation of motorized cleaning equipment. The position has no supervisory responsibilities. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned or changed at any time.

Requirements

No specific education requirement.
Three to six months of training or experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Complete all safety and task training certifications.
A valid driver's license may be required based on business needs; employees who drive for work must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, including equipment upkeep and care.
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual ability.
Forklift certification may be required.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties and duties listed on the daily schedule.
Collect, classify, sort, store, ship and receive, label, clean, recycle, and package special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain the daily upkeep of the assigned area.
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures, and stop at-risk behavior by oneself or others.
Perform work assignments as part of a team and complete repetitive tasks.
Maintain a clean work area and follow protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules.
Take direction and respond to supervision.
Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and customers.
Fill in during staff shortages and support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
Use proper personal protective equipment and maintain a professional appearance and conduct.
Understand customer service and satisfaction, reporting systems, and the work environment.
Drive to various work locations, customer sites, or company facilities when necessary to perform essential functions.
