About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of assigned areas. The role involves carrying out scheduled janitorial duties, maintaining cleaning equipment and work areas, and performing hazardous-waste responsibilities such as collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping, receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging special and hazardous waste. The Custodian follows safety procedures, uses appropriate personal protective equipment, reports incidents and hazardous conditions, and works professionally with coworkers, supervisors, and customers. The position may require driving to different work locations or customer sites.

Requirements

No specific education requirement.
Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and safely.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, and willingness to share knowledge with the team.
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
Complete all required safety and task training certifications.
If driving is required, maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements.

Nice To Haves

Three to six months of training or experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bilingual ability.
A valid driver's license, if required based on business needs.
Forklift certification, if required.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties and complete all duties listed on the daily schedule.
Carry out hazardous-waste responsibilities, including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping, receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain its upkeep and care.
Maintain the daily upkeep of assigned areas and keep the work area clean.
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Comply with safety rules, policies, procedures, protocols, and company rules.
Stop at-risk behavior by oneself or others.
Perform repetitive tasks and work assignments as part of a team.
Follow direction and respond to supervision.
Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and customers.
Fill in during staff shortages and support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
Use proper personal protective equipment and maintain a professional appearance and conduct.
Understand customer service and satisfaction, reporting systems, and the work environment.
Drive to various work locations, customer sites, or company facilities if required.
