About The Position
The City of Grand Junction is hiring a part-time custodian for its Community Recreation Center. The position performs custodial duties involving cleaning, room setup, and minor maintenance of assigned buildings and facilities. Work schedules are flexible, ranging from 10 to 35 hours per week, and the City works with school schedules. Employees may earn paid vacation time within their first few months. Employment is not expected to begin until August, subject to change based on construction timelines; applicants must be willing and able to wait until the anticipated start date. The position is safety-sensitive and subject to random drug screens.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must successfully pass a drug screen and background check, and a physical examination if required for the specific position.
- Understanding of best practices for cleaning materials, supplies, and equipment; training in safe work practices, methods, and techniques of cleaning and sterilizing facilities will be provided.
- Attention to detail and pride in completed work.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision.
- Desire to provide great customer service.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado Driver License.
- High school diploma or GED.
Responsibilities
- Perform indoor and outdoor facility cleaning and maintenance.
- Clean, sanitize, and deodorize restrooms and fixtures, including sinks, urinals, and toilets.
- Maintain restroom fixtures and replenish supplies.
- Clean and remove waste at designated locations.
- Keep custodial equipment in proper working condition and report other repairs to senior staff as needed.
- Maintain inventory, check supplies, and order as needed.
- Secure facilities after normal business hours.
- Set up and tear down rooms as necessary, including tables, chairs, pickleball nets, and other gym or facility equipment.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature.
