About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of assigned areas. The position performs janitorial duties, follows daily schedules and safety procedures, and handles special and hazardous waste responsibilities. The employee maintains assigned areas and cleaning equipment, reports incidents and hazardous conditions, works with other employees, and supports the shift lead as needed. The role has no supervisory responsibilities. No specific education is required. Three to six months of training or experience is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid driver's license may be required based on business needs; employees who drive for work must meet company driving eligibility requirements and maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record. Safety and task training certifications must be completed, and forklift certification may be required. Bilingual ability is a plus. The employee must be able to lift or move up to 35 pounds. Requirements

No specific education requirement.
Three to six months of training or experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, including the upkeep and care of cleaning equipment.
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
Must complete safety and task training certification.
A valid driver's license may be required based on business needs; employees who drive as part of their job must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties and all duties listed on the daily schedule.
Collect, classify, sort, store, ship and receive, label, clean, recycle, and package special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain the daily upkeep of assigned areas.
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures, and stop at-risk behavior by self and others.
Work as part of a team, perform repetitive tasks, and maintain a clean work area.
Follow protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules; take direction and respond to supervision.
Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, co-workers, managers, and customers.
Fill in during staff shortages and support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
Use proper personal protective equipment and maintain a professional appearance and conduct.
Understand customer service and satisfaction, reporting systems, and the work environment.
