About The Position

Performs maintenance and cleaning of various City buildings and facilities. The schedule is 5:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, and every third Saturday. The position performs advanced janitorial work and helps maintain safe working conditions inside buildings and in the yard. It is accountable to the Building Maintenance Supervisor.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Must possess and maintain a valid Wisconsin motor vehicle operator’s license.
Must be willing to use own transportation while performing required duties.
Evidence of personal liability insurance is required.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial cleaning and facility maintenance, including floor care, wall finishes, windows, restrooms, and general cleaning.
Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets in work areas and offices.
Dust and polish furniture, chairs, and counters.
Clean toilets, urinals, sinks, and other bathroom fixtures.
Restock paper towels, toilet tissue, and soap dispensers; empty wastebaskets and dispose of trash.
Clean the garage at least weekly and maintain associated equipment.
Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and paper products.
Consult with the supervisor about seasonal tasks and maintain a calendar for those tasks.
Maintain safe working conditions inside the building and in the yard.
Promote positive departmental public relations and image with City departments, staff, and the community.
During winter, clear snow from City Hall and Library sidewalks and entrances and apply salt using City-provided equipment.
Assist other custodians as needed.
Wash windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces; spot-clean carpeting as needed.
Strip, wax, and polish tile floors.
Maintain the U.S. flag and planters.
Clean and maintain kitchen and lounge areas.
Move office furniture and equipment between locations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
