About The Position

The Louisiana Veterans Homes seeks a hardworking, dependable WAE Custodian to assist with upkeep and operation of the Housekeeping department. The role involves basic manual tasks to maintain the cleanliness, sanitary conditions, and appearance of state buildings and facilities. The ideal candidate is a team player, willing to learn, and able to meet job requirements in a fast-paced environment.

The Louisiana Veterans Homes primarily serves Louisiana veterans by providing medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. Its objective is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans and help them reach the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.

Requirements

• No experience or training required.
• Must be a team player, willing to learn, and able to maintain job requirements in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Clean bathrooms, offices, hallways, and assigned areas by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing.
• Empty and decontaminate trash containers and may assist with disposing of infectious waste.
• Move, rearrange, and dust furniture and fixtures.
• Learn to mix or blend cleaning solutions to proper concentrations for various tasks.
• Assist with setting up tables, chairs, and other furniture for meetings, banquets, and other occasions.
• Wash blinds, windows, and walls using prescribed solutions.
• Operate a vacuum to clean carpeted areas.
• Strip, decontaminate, and make beds for patients, residents, students, and others.
• Report needs for minor building or equipment repairs to a higher-level custodian.
