About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all assigned areas. The role includes performing janitorial duties, maintaining assigned areas, and carrying out hazardous-waste responsibilities, including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging special and hazardous waste. The Custodian operates motorized cleaning equipment and follows safety procedures, company policies, and work schedules. The position has no supervisory responsibilities. A valid driver's license may be required based on business needs, and driving to various work locations, customer sites, or company facilities may be necessary.

Requirements

Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and safely.
No specific education requirement.
Three to six months of training or experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Complete all safety and task-training certifications.
A valid driver's license may be required based on business needs; employees who drive must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements.
May be required to be forklift certified.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, cleaning-equipment upkeep and care, and cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual ability is a plus.
Three to six months of training or experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties and all duties listed on the daily schedule.
Perform hazardous-waste responsibilities, including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain its upkeep and care.
Maintain the daily upkeep of assigned areas and keep the work area clean.
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures; stop at-risk behavior by oneself and others; and use proper personal protective equipment.
Work in a team, perform repetitive tasks, and fill in during staff shortages.
Follow protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules; take direction and respond to supervision.
Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and customers.
Support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
Maintain a professional appearance and conduct, and understand customer service and satisfaction.
Understand reporting systems and the work environment.
Drive to various work locations, customer sites, or company facilities when necessary to perform essential job functions.
