About The Position

Culver Academies is seeking a Custodian to help maintain the cleanliness of its buildings and support its mission of educating students for leadership and responsible citizenship. The position is based at the Academies’ campus in Culver, Indiana. Available shifts are day (7:00 AM–3:30 PM), evening (2:00 PM–10:00 PM), and night (4:00 PM–12:00 AM). On-the-job training will be provided. The work is physically demanding and requires extensive walking, lifting and carrying at least 25 pounds, reaching, climbing stairs, bending, and stooping.

Requirements

High School Equivalent (HSE).
Valid Indiana driver’s license with a good driving record.
Physical ability to meet the demands of the job, including reaching with hands and arms; lifting and carrying a minimum of 25 pounds; climbing stairs; bending and stooping; and extensive walking.

Responsibilities

Clean floors, furniture, chalkboards and erasers, drinking fountains, toilets, urinals, showers, walls, light fixtures, windows, and glass areas according to the assigned schedule.
Operate power-driven floor sweepers, scrubbers, carpet cleaners, and waxing machines.
Rearrange furniture to clean areas thoroughly.
Remove trash from buildings.
Care for school property adjacent to buildings and sweep walkways.
