About The Position
The Custodian performs assigned cleaning duties to maintain sanitary and orderly conditions and promote a positive image of the Peoria Civic Center. The role involves courteous interactions with customers, the public, and employees; safe use of supplies and equipment; and reporting building or maintenance needs to a supervisor. The position has no supervisory responsibilities and may involve work inside or outside the building. It is part-time, with no minimum hours per week, and requires a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or GED.
- English language fluency.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to work a part-time schedule with no minimum hours per week.
- Ability to use an electronic timeclock to record hours worked.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to move around the facility and speak and hear.
- Ability to walk extended distances and climb stairs.
- Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.

Responsibilities
- Perform assigned cleaning duties to maintain sanitary and orderly conditions.
- Maintain a well-groomed appearance and interact pleasantly, helpfully, and courteously with customers, the public, and other employees.
- Use supplies and operate equipment safely, effectively, and properly.
- Clean window and door glass.
- Replace light bulbs and clean fixtures in assigned areas.
- Read, understand, and follow task assignment sheets, manufacturers’ instructional labels, Safety Data Sheets, and other necessary information.
- Use stepladders, lift platforms, scaffolding, and similar equipment to complete assigned tasks.
- Operate custodial power equipment, including floor scrubbing or sweeping machines, carpet extracting equipment, and window-washing units.
- Return custodial equipment to storage clean and in good operating condition.
- Report observed building or maintenance needs to a supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
