About The Position

North Georgia Technical College is hiring a part-time Custodian at its Toccoa, Georgia location. The custodian helps maintain a clean and healthy environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors by performing routine cleaning and maintenance across the college campus. Duties include floor care, cleaning outdoor areas, replacing light bulbs, moving furniture and setting up spaces for events, operating cleaning equipment, clearing debris, and washing windows and screens. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Oral, written, and basic computer skills and knowledge.
• Ability to work independently.
• Flexibility.
• Knowledge of safety guidelines.
• Knowledge of floor stripping and waxing.
• Skill in using basic hand tools and cleaning tools.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, including their use and how they react when mixed.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds unassisted.
• Ability to bend, stand, climb, and walk; withstand varied indoor and outdoor environmental conditions; stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl; reach above shoulder level; and perform fine finger movements.
• No experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Strip and wax floors.
• Clean outdoor signage and park benches.
• Replace light bulbs.
• Move furniture and equipment, including chairs, tables, lights, and podiums, for special events and college functions.
• Operate restroom machines, ride-on and walk-behind floor scrubbers, mops, vacuum cleaners, blowers, brooms, buffers, aerial lifts, and other equipment.
• Clear debris from storm drains, traps, sidewalks, steps, and building porches.
• Clean windows and screens, including using a pressure washer and/or water hoses with attachments.
• Set up the conference center for events, including tables, chairs, and a dance floor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
