About The Position

DM Burr is hiring a full-time, second-shift Custodian for the Oak Park School District. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., and the wage is $16.75 per hour. The position uses approved cleaning methods and materials to care for an assigned facility, operates and maintains commercial cleaning equipment, keeps restrooms and shared spaces clean and stocked, documents completed work, and reports maintenance and safety concerns. A $200 hiring bonus is offered after 90 days.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or technical school certification.
Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
0–6 months of custodial or janitorial experience using floor scrubbers, buffers, and stripping machines.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
Ability to read and follow label instructions on cleaning supplies.
Ability to follow basic verbal and written instructions.
Ability to pay close attention to detail.
Team aptitude and approach.

Responsibilities

Use approved methods and materials to clean and care for the assigned facility.
Operate and maintain equipment such as auto floor scrubbers, burnishing buffers, stripping machines, and vacuums.
Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub, and polish floors using industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing and buffing machines.
Empty trash receptacles.
Remove stains from surfaces such as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions, as needed.
Clean furniture, window sills, and walls; dust and wash walls; clean ceilings; and polish light fixtures.
Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas.
Clean and stock restrooms, janitorial closets, and break rooms.
Record and document cleaning functions on appropriate logs and report them to the Supervisor.
Perform light building maintenance duties as needed and report major safety items for repair.
Perform other duties as assigned.
