About The Position
Under the direction of the Principal or Building Manager, performs a variety of tasks in the cleaning and maintenance of a school building and grounds; does related work as required. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for students and staff.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to perform heavy physical labor.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and materials.
- Ability to operate and maintain cleaning equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
Nice To Haves
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience.
- Knowledge of basic maintenance and repair tasks.
Responsibilities
- Sweeps, dusts, mops, waxes, and buffs floors.
- Cleans and disinfects restrooms, including toilets, urinals, sinks, and floors.
- Empties trash receptacles and removes trash to designated areas.
- Washes windows, walls, ceilings, and fixtures.
- Performs minor repairs such as replacing light bulbs, tightening screws, and unstopping drains.
- Operates and maintains cleaning equipment such as vacuums, buffers, and floor scrubbers.
- Reports any safety hazards or maintenance needs to supervisor.
- Assists with groundskeeping duties as needed, such as mowing lawns, raking leaves, and shoveling snow.
- Follows all safety regulations and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
