About The Position

The Custodian I provides custodial services to maintain County buildings, including Westminster Library, in a clean, orderly, and safe manner. The role performs cleaning and general custodial maintenance, reports repair and supply needs to management, and maintains a County-owned vehicle. The position may also supervise inmates from the detention center or individuals performing community service while they assist with custodial duties. Other related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent, and six months of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Knowledge of cleaning materials and proper methods for using chemicals and materials.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to prioritize tasks.
Knowledge of general custodial and lawn maintenance procedures.
Physical ability to perform the duties.
Knowledge of County guidelines and procedures.
Ability to operate cleaning tools, accessories, and equipment.

Responsibilities

Collect and dispose of trash and debris.
Collect, sort, and dispose of recyclables.
Provide general custodial maintenance of assigned County buildings and facilities, including Westminster Library.
Clean restroom sinks, toilets, and urinals.
Restock restroom paper products.
Vacuum and clean carpet floors.
Sweep, mop, strip, wax, and buff tile floors.
Clean interior and exterior windows.
Move furniture and equipment as directed.
Dispose of furniture and equipment as directed.
Notify management of needed repairs and supplies.
Supervise inmates from the detention center and/or individuals performing community service as they assist with custodial duties.
Maintain a County-owned vehicle and notify management of vehicle concerns.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
