About The Position
The University of Iowa Health Care Downtown Campus Department of Environmental Services is hiring a Custodian to help provide a safe, clean, and healthy environment for patients, guests, visitors, and staff. This is a fully on-campus position at the Downtown Campus in Iowa City, Iowa. The schedule is 2nd shift, 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., plus every seventh weekend. The starting pay is $17.66 per hour. The position is described as regular and salaried. The Downtown Campus is a 194-bed hospital that joined the University of Iowa’s comprehensive academic health system on January 31, 2024.
Requirements
- Ability to read, write, and follow directions.
Nice To Haves
- Previous cleaning experience.
- Experience working in a healthcare setting and working with the public.
- Experience using cleaning equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning.
- Remove trash.
- Stock supplies for the custodial cart and custodial area.
- Clean and disinfect restrooms and replenish restroom supplies.
- Dust, vacuum, sweep, and damp-mop hard-surface floors.
- Clean carpets.
- Make units and beds.
- Wash walls and ceilings.
- Move furniture and set up rooms.
- Use various types of custodial equipment to perform duties.
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
