About The Position

This intermediate individual-contributor position helps eliminate distractions by keeping assigned areas clean, sanitized, and orderly in a safe and efficient manner. The custodian works under general supervision, performs moderately complex tasks, and handles routine issues independently while referring more complicated issues to higher-level staff. The role may include helping with grounds, special events, or other manual labor, and may include leadership, coaching, or mentoring of others. Work may take place in damp, dusty, or dirty areas and involve cleaning solvents and chemicals.

Requirements

Certify in the use of any required equipment, such as sweepers, buffers, lifts, carpet-cleaning machinery, and high-rise power washers.
Understand basic instructions, complete basic tasks, and handle basic issues and problems.
Independently lift and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally team-lift and position objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
Stand, walk, kneel, squat, stoop, push, pull, twist, bend, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods.
Work from ladders, scaffolds, and mechanical lifts for extended periods.
Work with commercial-grade cleaners and chemicals and comply with all regulations associated with chemical handling.
Work professionally with others and independently without constant supervision; maintain a positive attitude and work as part of a team.
Understand English for general communication, video training, building security, and safety; understand verbal and written instructions and ask clarifying questions as needed.

Nice To Haves

Working knowledge of the subject matter; typically, two years of related work experience is preferred.
Experience with project work or executive cleaning.
A valid driver's license may be required.
Ability to work outside during all seasons, temperatures, and types of weather may be required.
Passing a criminal background check may be required.

Responsibilities

Clean offices, restrooms, public areas, and related fixtures and furnishings as instructed.
Operate mechanized cleaning equipment, including vacuums, polishers, buffers, scrubbers, sweepers, power washers, and extraction equipment.
Operate balers, shredders, aerial lifts, and forklifts.
Clean windows and building exteriors, carpets, rugs, upholstery, and drapes.
Sanitize areas, furnishings, and fixtures as instructed.
Wet- or damp-mop floors and dust or polish furnishings, light fixtures, window sills, and wood paneling.
Dispose of trash, waste, and other materials; restock supplies.
Perform emergency cleanups, including floods, bodily fluids, and spills.
Move furniture, supplies, and miscellaneous equipment; remove leaves or snow.
Perform on-call duties when required and may be assigned executive or VIP cleaning responsibilities.
Report safety or security issues and needed repairs.
Perform other assigned duties and attend meetings.
