Custodian 2 (Full time) - Los Angeles CA Temple
About The Position
This intermediate, individual-contributor role keeps assigned areas clean, sanitized, and orderly to eliminate distractions in a safe and efficient manner. The position may also be assigned grounds work, special events, or other manual labor duties. Work is performed under general supervision, with self-directed handling of moderately complex issues and referral of more complicated issues to higher-level staff. The individual may provide leadership, coaching, or mentoring to others. The work may involve damp, dusty, or dirty areas and the use of cleaning solvents and chemicals. On-call responsibilities may be required, and the employee may be assigned executive VIP responsibilities.
Requirements
- Certify in the use of any needed equipment, including sweepers, buffers, lifts, carpet-cleaning machinery, and high-rise power washers.
- Understand basic instructions, complete basic tasks, and handle basic issues and problems.
- Independently lift and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally team-lift and position objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Stand, walk, kneel, squat, stoop, push, pull, twist, bend, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods.
- Work from ladders, scaffolds, and mechanical lifts for extended periods.
- Work with commercial-grade cleaners and chemicals and comply with all regulations associated with handling chemicals.
- Work professionally with others and independently without constant supervision.
- Maintain a positive attitude and work as part of a team.
- Understand English for general communication, video training, building security, and safety; understand verbal and written instructions and ask clarifying questions as needed.
- Be a Church member worthy of a temple recommend to qualify for employment.
Nice To Haves
- Working knowledge of the subject matter; typically, two years of related work experience is preferred.
- Experience with project work or executive cleaning.
- Ability to work outside during all seasons, temperatures, and types of weather, if required.
- A valid driver's license, if required.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check, if required.
Responsibilities
- Clean offices, restrooms, public areas, and fixtures as instructed.
- Operate mechanized cleaning equipment, including vacuums, polishers, buffers, large scrubbers and sweepers, power washers, and extraction equipment.
- Operate balers, shredders, aerial lifts, and forklifts.
- Clean windows and building exteriors.
- Clean carpets, rugs, upholstery, and drapes.
- Sanitize areas, furnishings, or fixtures as instructed.
- Wet or damp mop floors.
- Dust or polish furnishings, light fixtures, window sills, wood paneling, and similar items.
- Dispose of trash, waste, and other materials.
- Perform emergency cleanups, including floods, bodily fluids, and spills.
- Restock supplies.
- Move furniture, supplies, and miscellaneous equipment.
- Remove leaves or snow.
- Report safety or security issues and needed repairs.
- Perform other duties and attend meetings as assigned.
