About The Position

Under close supervision, the Custodial Worker performs routine building and grounds work and other duties of a similar nature as required. The role involves cleaning and maintaining floors, walls, windows, fixtures, furniture, equipment, and outdoor areas; assisting with furniture moves and equipment setups; performing minor repairs and adjustments; and following safe work practices. The position may involve a plant environment, loud noise, respiratory hazards, extreme non-weather-related temperatures, outdoor work, wet or humid conditions, large machinery, vibrations, and work at heights. Hybrid work may be authorized, with eligibility discussed during the interview process.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• No prior experience required.
• Ability to read and write, perform manual labor, follow verbal and written instructions, and use tools required for various tasks.
• Ability to report to work reliably and punctually as scheduled.
• Ability to perform physical activities including standing, walking, driving, sitting, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, squatting, crouching, crawling, reaching, typing, talking, feeling, grasping, and fine manipulation.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 60 pounds occasionally; lifting over 40 pounds should be completed with assistance.
• Ability to meet visual demands involving near and far acuity, depth perception, accommodation, and color vision.
• Ability to work in a plant environment with extremely loud noise and exposure to respiratory hazards, extreme non-weather-related cold or heat, outdoor conditions, wet or humid conditions, large machinery, vibrations, and heights.
• Ability to analyze, comprehend, interpret, coordinate, and negotiate, and to communicate and interact while using decision-making, organizational, problem-solving, task-performance, and resiliency skills.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, clean, dust, wax, and buff floors, including operating powered cleaning machines.
• Dust and polish furniture and empty waste baskets.
• Work from scaffolds or ladders to clean walls, ceilings, and fixtures.
• Wash wall surfaces, baseboards, and windows.
• Help move furniture and set up equipment.
• Perform routine building and grounds cleanup.
• Maintain cleaning supplies and sweep.
• Rake and wash walks and roadways; shovel snow and spread salt on icy pavements.
• Make minor repairs and adjustments to buildings, furniture, and equipment.
• Replace light bulbs.
• Assist with maintenance of grass and landscaped areas, including mowing and pruning.
• Observe safe work practices.
• Perform other duties of a similar nature as required.
