About The Position

West Liberty University is seeking custodians to maintain clean, sanitary, safe, and welcoming campus buildings and facilities. The role supports students, faculty, staff, and visitors by preserving the appearance, cleanliness, and safety of campus environments. Custodians operate cleaning equipment; clean and disinfect classrooms, offices, common areas, and other facilities; and perform related duties as assigned. They may also support other campus areas when additional coverage is needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety.

Nice To Haves

• Six months or more of custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or related experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, carpet extractors, and pressure washers.
• Clean, sanitize, and disinfect classrooms, offices, common areas, and other campus facilities.
• Maintain high-touch surfaces to support health and safety initiatives.
• Empty trash and recycling receptacles and dispose of waste properly.
• Clean and restock restrooms with paper products and soap supplies.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, wax, buff, and vacuum floors and stairwells.
• Dust furniture, fixtures, shelves, and other surfaces.
• Wash walls, ceilings, doors, windows, and other building features.
• Shampoo carpets, rugs, and upholstered furniture.
• Report maintenance concerns and safety issues to supervisors.
• Support other campus areas when additional coverage is needed.
• Follow OSHA, EPA, and University safety standards.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
