About The Position

This position is in the Housekeeping Department of the Jicarilla Service Unit in Dulce, New Mexico. The incumbent performs a full range of housekeeping duties in the main building and exterior buildings on campus and reports to the Supervisory General Supply Specialist. The role includes cleaning and disinfecting offices, patient care areas, dormitories, restrooms, and other spaces; maintaining surfaces and floors; replenishing restroom supplies; handling waste and linen; reporting maintenance issues; and operating and maintaining cleaning equipment. A REAL ID-compliant identification document will be required when applicable under the stated federal identification requirements.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Selective Service registration is required for males born after December 31, 1959.
• Must satisfy the background investigation and suitability requirements for federal service.
• Must complete required background investigation forms within five calendar days of issuance and present two valid forms of identification before appointment; a state-issued ID or driver's license must be REAL ID-compliant.
• Must pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Must set up direct deposit.
• Must comply with the IHS Employee Immunization Policy if duties require working permanently, temporarily, or occasionally in an IHS healthcare facility; vaccine exemption requests may be available under the policy and facility guidance.
• May be subject to a probationary period; ESEP appointees typically serve a two-year trial period.
• Applicants must address each job element in the online assessment questionnaire, and the resume must reflect the questionnaire responses.
• Competition is restricted by law to persons entitled to veterans' preference as long as such applicants are available for appointment.
• Must meet all qualification requirements by the applicable cutoff day of rating.
• A service agreement of at least one year is required.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect assigned offices, corridors, patient care areas, dormitories, restrooms, and storage rooms according to established standards and guidelines.
• Maintain floors, furniture, fixtures, windows, walls, and other surfaces using appropriate cleaning methods and equipment.
• Sanitize restrooms, replenish supplies, empty wastebaskets, and collect and deliver linen.
• Report maintenance issues to the supervisor or designated personnel.
• Safely operate and maintain cleaning equipment and perform minor equipment maintenance.
• Use ladders or scaffolds when required.
