Custodial Helper - 4 Hour

About The Position

The Custodial Helper assists the plant manager in maintaining the safety, security, cleanliness, and appearance of the physical plant. The role works four hours daily, five days per week, and may occasionally require overtime after hours or work on Saturday and Sunday. Custodial personnel may be required to work a split shift. Work takes place in all weather conditions, in both winter and summer, and the employee is expected to wear clothing appropriate to the conditions of the day. The position requires reading and comprehending service orders, repair requests, and written instructions, including instructions for operating equipment and using cleaning chemicals. The work involves physical tasks such as trunk flexion and squatting, sometimes while working under raised buildings, in attic spaces, or in toilet room enclosures, and may require carrying tools and building materials. The employee is expected to interact diplomatically and discreetly in group settings.

Requirements

Be able to read and write and comprehend instructions for operating equipment and using chemicals in cleaning operations.
Be able to read and comprehend service orders and repair request documents.
Be able to comprehend written instructions.
Be able to conduct activities in group settings while maintaining an objective attitude, decorum, diplomacy, tact, and discretion.
Be able to perform tasks requiring trunk flexion and squatting, and to carry tools and building materials.

Responsibilities

Maintain the cleanliness of halls and entrances.
Clean walls and windows.
Check dressing rooms.
Clean classroom units according to the working schedule, minimum cleaning schedule, and specific school needs.
Respond to the coordinator, plant manager, and/or assistant custodian where appropriate.
Perform other duties as required by the plant manager or Coordinator of Maintenance & Custodial Services.
