Custodial Helper - 6 Hours

About The Position

The Custodial Helper assists the plant manager in maintaining the safety, security, cleanliness, and appearance of the physical plant. The role includes cleaning halls, entrances, walls, windows, dressing rooms, and classroom units according to the work schedule and the school’s minimum cleaning schedule. The employee responds to the coordinator, plant manager, and/or assistant custodian as appropriate and performs other duties assigned by the plant manager or Coordinator of Maintenance & Custodial Services. Work takes place in all weather conditions, including winter and summer, and the employee is expected to wear appropriate clothing for the conditions. The posting describes a workday of eight hours daily, five days per week, with occasional overtime or after-hours, Saturday, and Sunday work. A split shift may be required. The employee must be able to read and comprehend service orders, repair requests, written instructions, equipment-operation instructions, and directions for using cleaning chemicals. The role involves group activities requiring objectivity, decorum, diplomacy, tact, and discretion.

Requirements

Must be able to read and write.
Must be able to comprehend instructions on operating equipment and using chemicals in cleaning operations.
Must be able to read and comprehend service orders and repair request documents.
Must be able to comprehend written instructions.
Must conduct activities in group settings while maintaining objectivity, decorum, diplomacy, tact, and discretion.

Responsibilities

Maintain the cleanliness of halls and entrances.
Clean walls and windows.
Check dressing rooms.
Clean classroom units according to the work schedule and the minimum cleaning schedule specific to school needs.
Respond to the coordinator, plant manager, and/or assistant custodian as appropriate.
Perform other duties as required by the plant manager or Coordinator of Maintenance & Custodial Services.
